Attention parents of Tohatchi Schools

GMCS buses will not be able to cross the Bridge on Johnsons Road this afternoon, because the McKinley County’s Road department is making repairs to the bridge after the bridge was struck by a vehicle last night. McKinley County Roads Department will contact the GMCS Transportation Department when the repairs have been completed.

Mandatory Returning Substitute Orientation

For all Returning Substitutes for GMCS there will be an ESS Orientation that you will need to attend.
It will be a two-hour Orientation. You only must attend one of these Orientations. Dates are listed below.

Services for Exceptional Students will be holding it’s second annual Summer Training Institute on July 22 – 26, 2019 at JFK Middle School

This is for all new and returning Special Education Teachers, GATE Teachers, and Special Education Instructional Assistants.

The sessions take place daily from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Andrew Egel, Autism Specialist from the University of Maryland – plus a special presentation for parents on the evening of July 26, 2019 from 6 – 8 PM in the JFK Auditorium.

Special Board Meeting

The President of the Gallup McKinley County School District #1 Board of Education announces a special meeting on June 28, 2019 in the SSC Boardroom (640 South Boardman Drive) at 2:00 PM.
Board members will review and make a selection of a new logo for the GMCS School District. A quorum will be present and action will be taken.

GMCS Graduation Attire info

Due to false rumors being spread about GMCS graduation attire, the following information is being provided:

GMCS High School Principals have the discretion on how graduation ceremonies are conducted at their schools. Caps and Gowns are worn by graduating students during all GMCS graduation ceremonies. Principals have the discretion on whether the graduating students are allowed to cover/decorate caps and gowns during the graduation ceremony. GMCS graduating students are not restricted from wearing what they choose to wear under their cap and gown or on any other exposed part of their body. This has been the practice for GMCS graduations for decades and no new changes have been made to this protocol.
