Reinalyn Ong is being celebrated by Red Rock Elementary and the entire GMCS district for being named the 2026 Golden Apple Foundation of New Mexico Excellence in Teaching Award Winner. The award honors educators who show excellence, dedication, and commitment to student success. Ms. Ong was recognized for her ongoing positive impact on students, colleagues, and the school community.

District leaders praised her passion for education and unwavering commitment to helping students grow academically and personally. Her work in the classroom has earned admiration from peers, families, and students.

Director of Instruction and a previous colleague of Ong, Eva Prieto, stated

"Ms. Ong's commitment to students and families is extraordinary. She brings expertise, compassion, innovation, and unwavering dedication to her classroom, creating opportunities for children to thrive. This recognition reflects the difference she makes in the lives of children every single day."

As part of the recognition, the Golden Apple Award winner receives a professional development stipend, a cash award, a televised interview broadcast with KRQE, and an official trophy honoring the achievement. Students, coworkers, family, and community supporters join in congratulating Ms. Ong on this honor.
